DESTINATION: CATALINA . . .The Corporate Choice

Plan to hold your next corporate event on Catalina Island, the most unique resort destination in Southern California.Plan to hold your next corporate event on Catalina Island, the most unique resort destination in Southern California.

Located 22 miles from the Los Angeles/ Orange County coast, Catalina Island still retains the charm and hospitality of days gone by. The moment you step foot on the island stress and worries melt away. Avalon, the island’s only city, encompasses about 2-square miles with a population of about 3,500. There are no freeways or traffic lights on Catalina. The most common mode of transportation is walking, bicycles or golf carts. The streets are lined with palm trees, the waters surrounding the island are crystal blue, the air is clean, and the island has nearly perfect year-round weather.

The quaint town of Avalon, nestled on the edge of Avalon Bay, offers a large selection of hotels, restaurants, shops, and a wide variety of venues, which accommodate groups of 10 to 1000, for hosting meetings, seminars, product rollouts, executive retreats, company picnics and parties.

Catalina is the ideal destination if you want to combine business with pleasure. The island offers a plethora of land and sea activities. Golfing, day spas, fishing charters, snorkeling and unique sightseeing tours such as glass bottom boat and semi-submarine tours are some of the more popular activities.

There are 25 plus restaurants and eateries on the Island that serve everything from fresh seafood, steaks, sushi, Italian, Chinese, and American menus.

Avalon also offers terrific shopping with an assortment of boutiques with island-style clothing for men and women, gift shops that feature everything from novelty items to ocean-themed art and hand-crafted jewelry to galleries and bookshops.

Because Catalina lacks high-rise hotels found on the mainland, it's not unusual for groups of 150 guests or more to stay at several hotels in Avalon. Catalina offers over 30 different hotels ranging in capacity from 12 to 72 rooms. Avalon offers 900 hotel rooms, and most hotels are centrally located along Avalon's bay front pedestrian boardwalk, all within a five minute stroll from just about everything in town. Beachfront properties and luxurious condos that come equipped with a golf cart and overlooking the ocean are available.

Catalina Island is easy to get to by way of regularly scheduled boat and helicopter service. Private boat and yacht charters can be arranged as well as helicopter, plane or jet charters.

Average travel time by boat from Los Angeles ports takes about one hour, and about one and a half hours from Orange County ports.
