Transportation and Meal Information

Boat Transportation
Arrive by boat via Catalina Express from Long Beach (Downtown or Queen Mary), San Pedro, or Dana Point.  You will board a cross-channel carrier for a pleasant one hour journey across the channel to Avalon.  Upon arrival, you and your guests will be welcomed by our friendly staff who stand ready to answer questions and give directions.  We will be with you every step of the way to ensure you have the most memorable experience.

Air Transportation
Departing from Long Beach or San Pedro, helicopter travel on Island Express is by far the fastest way to travel to the island.  The Avalon airport is also available to private planes.  Destination: Catalina is expert at arranging charter transportation by air - followed up with ground transport to Avalon - either by commercial bus or private 14 passenger vans.

Meals
Catalina Island is home to a wide variety of restaurants.  Destination: Catalina can provide an array of fine dining options - from traditional, seafood, and steak fare to your very own beach luau.  Customize a menu to suit your taste and budget or order from the menu.  Allow us to serve you!  

To spice up your experience - try our famous

"Wild & Wacky Golf Cart Road Rally"

Guests will divide into 4 person teams. Golf carts will be set up with a Polaroid camera, map and each team will be armed with an Island Scavenger Hunt Booklet filled with trivia, questions and directions to complete the Hunt. Along the way they will stop at the Wrigley Botanical Garden, Hula Hoop in the Round, and try for a hole in one. Also, have their picture taken at the entrance to the William Wrigley Jr. summer home, now the Inn on Mt. Ada; and other items of interest. The event will end back at the Cart rental location and prizes can be distributed at your choosing.

Tour Vouchers allow each individual in your group to choose an activity to their liking.  Tour Vouchers are offered in three different price ranges.

Class I Tour Vouchers

Guided Snorkeling Tour
One of the most reliable ocean-sports companies on the island offers a guided snorkeling tour of the Underwater Park at the famous Casino Building.  Golden Garibaldi, octopus, sea lions, calico bass, senorita fish, and spiny lobster abound in this preserve.  You will be treated to a snorkel tour guided by a professional diver who will talk about the beautiful Catalina marine life.  All equipment rentals are included. Two-person minimum required.

Guided Frog Rock Kayak Tour
Enjoy a guided trip to Frog Rock.  A naturalist will be along to point out native plants and provide interesting history of the Island.  Single or double kayaks are available, as well as instruction on kayaking, and paddle pants and jackets if required.  Snacks are provided upon arrival to Frog Rock.

Class II Tour Vouchers

Golf Cart Rental
Enjoy cruising around town in a golf cart! This is a fun way to explore the city and the magnificent views from hillsides or oceanfront streets. A scenic area map and suggested route is provided.

Undersea Tour
Imagine yourself about the Starlight, Emerald, or Nautilus a semi-submersible submarine.  These vessels are the newest ways to see the crystal clear waters of the Avalon Harbor and Lover's Cove. You will have a one of a kind adventure in our semi-submersible vessel as you sit below the water level and come face to face with fish, kelp and other sea life.
Time: Approximately 40 minutes

Skyline Drive Tour
This is a narrated journey into the interior of Catalina Island. Travel along the scenic Skyline Drive to the Airport-in-the-Sky with its mountain top landing strip. Explore the Catalina Nature Center, and look for buffalo, bald eagles, and native plants along the way. You’ll also enjoy shopping, as well as the many lovely photo opportunities available throughout the tour.

18-Speed Mountain Bike Rental or 5-Speed Tandem Bike Rental
Travel the beautiful hills and valleys of Avalon on your mountain or tandem bike. May we suggest the streets of Avalon, the hills up to Mt. Ada, a ride to the Casino, or up to the Botanical Gardens for your self-guided tour.

Merchandise Voucher
Take home a sweatshirt for a memento of your fabulous trip to beautiful Catalina Island! There is a local embroidery shop in town ready to provide the above item in various colors, sizes and designs. They are fully stocked with various hats, shirts, jackets and interesting gift items.

Class III Tour Vouchers

Casino Tour
Take a trip down memory lane to the days when bands were big and movies were just beginning to talk. This is the only guided tour through the art deco Avalon Theatre and world-famous Casino Ballroom.
Time: Approximately 50 minutes

Seal Rock Explorer
Catch this act! Better known for their performances as "trained seals," these sea lions and harbor seals make their homes each summer at the east end of Catalina Island. Watch them sun, swim and frolic around their rocky perches. Your captain will explain to you the geology and early beginnings of the Island. We will search for bald eagles and dolphins on your return trip to Avalon.

Glass Bottom Boat Trip
Explore undersea life in the comfort of modern glass bottom boats. You will see barracuda, sea lions, spiny lobster, moray eel, bat rays and the world famous golden Garibaldi.

Avalon Scenic Tour
Discover the enchantment of Avalon on a delightful, 9-mile narrated journey of this coastal village by coach. Travel along the beachfront, up the hillsides, and through the heart of our beautiful town. The perfect introduction to Avalon! Time: Approximately (1) hour

Bike Rental
This is a great way to explore picturesque Avalon!  Beach cruiser bicycles are provided, along with a scenic map of the area with a suggested route.

Miniature Golf
This beautiful 18-hole course is located in the center of town. Members will have a great time trying for a hole in one.

Kayak Rental
Paddle around Avalon harbor while you are enjoying the sun, the beautiful city view, and magnificent yachts moored in the harbor. Time: (1) hour
